The mission of the Message is to inspire, instruct, and inform readers of God's work in the world. Message Online not only publishes articles from the quarterly issues of the printed Message, but it also features special news stories, current topics, and bonus articles on quarterly themes. See Online Features for a list of articles unique to the online magazine.

Writer's Guidelines

We generally accept articles only from contributors with some affiliation to the ABWE world. As a non-profit magazine, we are unable to pay for manuscripts. We reserve the right to reject or edit submissions as necessary. Email submissions in Word .doc or .rtf format are preferred. We gladly consider photos with articles. Please ensure digital images are 300 dpi or higher. Email angela@abwe.org with questions or articles. We cannot return hard copies of manuscripts unless an S.A.S.E. is provided.

Guidelines for Message Online

Content: The online Message is perfect for newsbreaks, hot topics, and time-specific praise stories. Fresh, current articles written in a short, snappy style are to be preferred. Consider a younger, immediate audience, the 20-40 range. We are particularly interested in articles that make connections between missions and sports, arts, music, film, short-termers, the economy, or 21st century culture.

Length: 300-500 words.

Deadline: If the story is time-specific, please send it ASAP. We generally require two weeks before publication online.

Guidelines for the quarterly Message

Content: We are always looking for articles with NO connection to a particular theme. These should be stand-alone pieces with a photo-journalistic or missiological approach. Articles for the Message should be in depth, with vivid details and fluent prose. Please email the editor if you have an idea for a potential article. New angles are always appreciated.

Length: 300-600 words, or longer if discussed with the editor.

Deadlines: Dec. 1 for Spring (March); Mar. 1 for Summer (June); June 1 for Fall (September); Sept. 1 for Winter (December). The earlier we receive submissions the better. Four months or more before the publication date is ideal.
