Medical Missions Exposition-March 6, 2004-Portage, Michigan

By Dr. Bob Cropsey March 6, 2004

ABWE held its first Medical Missions Exposition conference on March 6, 2004, at Berean Baptist Church near Kalamazoo, MI. The 60 conferees came from medical and non-medical professions from Michigan and Indiana for the all-day intensive workshop. The focus for the conference was how to answer in a practical way the Great Commission command given to us by the Great Physician himself.

After an introductory message from Rev. Will Davis, the vice president of ABWE, Dr. Bob Cropsey briefly outlined historical missions from the New Testament to today's modern missions movement and the important role medical missions has played in enhancing and advancing the gospel. Dr. Bruce Steffes provided a stimulating admonition for each person's responsibility as either a "sender" or "goer." Coupled with many practical examples of how this interwoven team approach can work, Dr. Steffes gave each participant new ideas of how they can personally become involved both at home and abroad.

Medical students and those in training programs left with a vision of their role in global missions and renewed excitement in pursing God's leading in their lives. Rev. Don Roe gave a final challenge from Romans 12:1, 2 reminding us that God's call will be clear, good, and fulfilling as we meet His requirements in those verses!

Each summer ABWE hosts the Medical Missions Interface in Harrisburg, July 16-18.  It is not too early to reserve a place for this popular program that will greatly inspire and encourage you as you rub shoulders with career medical missionaries from around ABWE's world as well as receive CME credit should you desire.
