MKs in the Military

By S.G.D. 3/7/03

This is a time of global unrest, when the rumors of war are everywhere. Many ABWE MKs (missionary kids) are military service personnel in the Reserves, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and National Guard. Others attend military academies in Canada and the U.S.

During the past weeks, many of our MK's have been called up to active duty and are being stationed abroad. We pray not only for their safety, but that they might serve as witnesses to the men and women with whom they are in arms and to the national people in the countries where they are stationed.

When nations discuss war and the military is deployed, it is all the more essential that God's people be living demonstrations of God's love. Throughout history, God has been a "people-mover." Because of war, diaspora, and disaster, people move, both spreading and coming into contact with the gospel message. God uses the events of history to make Himself known among the nations.

Pray that ABWE-connected MKs and other Christian military personnel will have many opportunities to demonstrate God's love to new people, and that God will give them strength, courage, and patience for the events ahead.
