God Still Has His Ravens
By Eunice Priddy
My parents, Harold and Faith Dirk served as missionaries in the
Central African Republic for 42 years. In 1967 when I was a sophomore
in high school, I lived at Mid-Maples, a home for missionary children
in Wheaton, Illinois.
My first Christmas there, I received a "care package" from
a family in Port Hope, Michigan- people I had never heard of. They
had chosen my name from a list of MK's. Over the years they
continued to send packages. The boxes were such fun to open, because
I never knew what I would find. In every package there was always
a box of change. A note explained that the change came from what
the mother in the family had collected from pants pockets in the
laundry.
The kindness of this family continued through my high-school and
college years. Besides the Christmas package, I always received
a birthday card. To this day, I have never had the joy of meeting
these people, but I will never forget their personal interest,
prayers and letters.
On July 30, 1977, I received a wedding card when Glenn and I were
married. As we began our missionary service in 1980, the care packages
turned into monthly support.
In June 1995, after 15 years of missionary radio ministry, Glenn
and I began our work with ABWE. The mission asked my husband and
me to accompany Pensacola Christian College students going to the
ABWE missionary works in southern France. In our April prayer letter
we mentioned that we were trusting the Lord to provide the funds.
Before the letter reached Port Hope, Michigan, "my" family
had already been led of the Lord to send us an extra gift. Learning
of the trip to France, they wrote that they knew God wanted their
gift to be used for the trip.
Just as the ravens faithfully carried food to the prophet Elijah,
this family has often provided for me. God still has His ravens.
My prayer is that someone hearing this testimony will be moved
to "adopt" a missionary child.
With eight women and two men students, the Priddys spent July
24 to August 7, 1997 in France working with ABWE missionaries David
and Nancy Cropsey and Tim and Marsha Weeks. The team distributed
literature and conducted evangelistic services.
Glenn Priddy is the ABWE Computer Network Administrator. As well
as continuing her nursing career, Eunice is involved with hospitality
at ABWE.
