Congratulations in North America

In North America it takes five years, on the average, for a church to move from start-up to full support. This process involves finding people, property, and a pastor.

Since its inception in 1976, ABWE-North America has planted or revived 50 churches. In the past 10 years these churches have contributed over $4 million to ABWE missionaries for monthly support or special projects.

During 1998, three churches graduated to self-support. Congratulations to

  • Steve and Karen Borders - First Baptist Church, Menifee, CA (a daughter congregation of First Baptist Church, Hemit, CA where ABWE Board member Richard Christen pastors.)
  • Samuel and Darlene Farlow - Community Baptist Church, Hillsboro, OR
  • Earl and Marilyn Shaffer - Hope Chapel Baptist Church, Piqua, OH

These missionaries will now move on to start still other churches in new areas. To accelerate the church planting process, Administrator for North America, Norm Nicklas, wants to provide a Church Planting Start-up Kit for each team. The kit would include:

  • an electronic key board
  • 100 hymnals
  • portable sound system
  • Sunday school supplies
  • computer
  • small trailer
  • funds for a mass telephone campaign, literature, and building rent for a year.

If you are interested in supplying some of these items, contact Norm Nicklas:

Phone: (717) 774-7000 (Ext 355) or E-mail: norm@abwe.org
