Pastor's Training Center at Camp Cabaju

By Paul Fields

"I want to study for the ministry." To hear those words is every pastor's dream. In Paraguay, the follow-up on that dream is not so easy.

More than four years ago, God showed us that the focus of our ministry should be national leadership training. Pastoral training is not new here, but our last attempts at formal Bible training had to be closed. We asked God, "Do you want us to try again?" Having our own camp meant we could use a small building already there for training pastors.

Just as we were getting started we hit a roadblock. The church where we were helping lost its national pastor, and we were asked to fill in. The time involved in pastoring the church meant we haven't been able to dedicate ourselves to the development of the training center. Temporary solution? Hold intensive, week-long courses for men who pastor churches or lead preaching points to come to the training center and receive "tools" for ministry they are already doing.

What about the young man who wanted to study for the ministry? For now, he will have to go to Buenos Aires, Argentina. We pray the day will come when we can offer complete Bible school training in Paraguay.
