Remember the Great Things He Has Done
Anticipate What He Will
Do
By Jeannie Lockerbie Stephenson
The cover pictures (Message - Winter, 1999) depict war, chaos,
natural disasters-everyday occurrences in our world. During the
time in which we live, we must remember God is in control. Remember-what
a beautiful word, calling to mind thoughts, words, and events from
the past. The Bible gives over 200 references to the word. Remembering
what God has done in the past gives assurance that "He who
began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus
Christ" (Philippians 1:6).
As we come to the close of this year, this decade, this century,
we remember God's goodness to ABWE since its beginning in 1927.
We want to bring you up-to-date on selected projects taken from
the PRAYER DIGESTS John Koster has prepared since 1995.
Remembering the past calls us to action for the future. As ABWE
Board member John Greening said, "A burden is no more than
a lump in the throat if we are not called to action."
Millennial clocks and other countdowns multiply as we near the
end of the century. One pictured here is in Canada's capital, Ottawa.
Inscribed on a plaque nearby is a question posed by Frederick Todd
in the early 1900's. "You may ask, 'Is it reasonable to look
so far ahead as one hundred years or more, and make plans for generations
in the distant future.'" This prominent architect and landscaper
answered, "Yes, it is," as he planned and planted for
the future. While we know the Lord Jesus could return at any moment,
we, too, must plan and plant the seed of the Word of God for generations
still to come. Please accept our thanks for your prayer, support,
and service for the Lord. Ask Him how you can be involved as we
move into the next millennium.
