
We need a world view as big as NATO, as big as China, as big as
the Bible. The world is changing rapidly. When I was
in the Philippines on Project HOPE I read this editorial, "NATO
marked its 50th year with an agreement to expand its role beyond
collective defense." Today
NATO intervenes in humanitarian crises outside western Europe.
Its future mandate will include protecting human rights and improving
the health of mankind. NATO is changing. The year 2000 is the Chinese
Year of the Dragon. China is flexing its economic muscles with
imports to the United States increasing

On October 11,1999, ABWE missionaries John and Aimee Stiles, and
Steve and Debi Douglas saw faith become sight in Arequipa,
Peru's
second-largest city. This day marked the culmination of six years
of prayer for a building to house the growing group of believers.
The historic convention center known as La Casona de Boulevard
became
the new home of Iglesia Bautista Vida Nueva. New Life Baptist Church
now has a permanent location from which to witness to the city's

Jamaica, with its population of 2.5 million, is one of ABWE's
newest fields. David and Cathy Smith joined the Global Access Partnerships
(GAP) branch of ABWE in 1998. They desire to facilitate and provide
resources for independent Baptist churches in Jamaica where David
grew up as a missionary kid. Over 50 Baptist churches, now pastored
by nationals, give testimony of previous missionary work in Jamaica.
The majority of these churches
are in rural areas where members are not able to fully support
