Dedication of New Building
ABWE's International Administration and Training Center Building
(Phase 2) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was dedicated on November
13, 2001, at special ceremonies attended by board members, staff,
and visiting missionaries.
- Ruth Kempton read a letter from artist Rosalind Cook who sculptured
several bronze figures called "Come Unto Me," depicting
Jesus' invitation to the children of the world. These figures
express the mission's primary objective: that all the peoples
of the world have the opportunity to accept Christ's offer of
salvation.
- Board member, Dr. Tony Beckett, offered a prayer of dedication;
Wendell and Ruth Kempton cut a ribbon to the new facilities; and
the assembled group walked in to lunch singing "To God Be
the Glory." During lunch at the expanded site, recognition
was given to the building and construction committee, and to many
anonymous donors, represented by Bill and MaryJo Price.
- Bill Price talked about his experience running a family-owned
business, and repeated his father's constant reminder: "Train
your replacement." Bill said, "With more training, think
what the missionaries will be able to do!"
- Dr. Michael Loftis committed to using the building to "train
our replacements."
