Fever and Goose Fat

Sometimes MKs have unique experiences on the mission field. What happened to Micah Coley, an MK in Slovakia, definitely qualifies as unique!

The Coley family had invited their language teacher and her husband to go with them on a ski trip to the mountains. They skied the afternoon they arrived as well as the following day. But by late afternoon the second day, Micah became weak and had trouble even standing. When they got back to their rented rooms, his mom took his temperature and it was 105¼! Micah's mom, Kippi, gave him Tylenol(r) and followed it up shortly afterwards with other medicine, but that only helped a little. Suddenly, the caretaker of the rooms appeared, bringing something that smelled absolutely terrible. She said the only thing to do was to cover Micah's upper body with goose fat! Micah's mom felt sorry for him and tried to stop the woman, but it was no use. Micah was put to bed and completely covered from his chin down to his waist with goose fat. Yuck! Then they wrapped him in Saran Wrap(tm) and hot towels. Did it work? NO! But Micah and his parents had a great attitude by not offending the Slovaks who wanted to help.
