Happy 90th Birthday, Miss Elsie Miller

Elsie came to ABWE after years of working with the U.S. Army in Heidelberg, Germany, and in the Pentagon. At first, she served as secretary for Harold Commons, Edward Bomm, and Russell Ebersole. As she typed letters to missionaries, she was challenged to help them and became a great prayer warrior, especially to those in physical or spiritual need. Because of this, her influence extends far beyond the headquarters office.

For the past 37 years (20 of them as a volunteer), Elsie has served ABWE's presidents. Dr. Commons confessed, "Elsie tried to train me and keep me on the straight and narrow." Dr. Kempton admitted, "She was the exact person I needed when I came to ABWE." And most recently, Dr. Kempton told Michael Loftis, "Miss Miller will train you."

Elsie Miller worked closely with Ruth Kempton on the Bibles for Russia project. So it was fitting that Dr. Loftis closed her birthday celebration with a custom followed by Russian Christians. They read the Psalm which corresponds to the age of the person having the birthday. Elsie's psalm was most appropriate, "Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place for all generations."
