ABWE Home Office – Inside Out
After nearly eight years of ministry in Odessa, Ukraine, the Lord
has brought me back to the U.S. to serve with a different part of
the ABWE global team —the staff at the home office. As a “field”
missionary, I certainly appreciated on-time remittances and loved
to read the Message Magazine when it came in the
mail. But I have to admit that I never thought much about what happens
here in the home office. I have come to appreciate this dedicated
group of people who have given up better-paying jobs in the secular
world to serve the Lord in a behind-the-scenes way.
In this issue, we want to take you on a tour to see the functions
of the ABWE home office—inside out! For those of you who have been
friends of ABWE for many years, you know the story of how we moved
from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, to our present location. It’s a great
story! God miraculously worked as mission leaders located this property,
planned the construction, organized the volunteer labor, obtained
many donated materials, and brought us to where we are today—in
a beautiful, functional, debt-free facility!
But the home office is more than just the building. Have you ever
wondered how your support checks get to the missionaries for use
in their ministries? Have you ever watched a missionary presentation
and wondered how it was produced? Or maybe you have wondered how
missionaries determine the goals and strategies for their ministries.
These are the kinds of issues that fly around this building on
a daily basis.
We would encourage you to visit us in person, but in the meantime,
take a tour of the office by walking through these pages with us.
What you’ll notice is a team of qualified people performing many
different functions, but all with one united purpose: to facilitate
worldwide church-planting movements that result in missions movements
to the glory of God.
All of us in the home office are thrilled to be part of God’s work
in this world. We want you to see our hearts as we look out of our
windows to the rest of the world. You, as readers of the Message,
friends of ABWE, and supporters of missionaries around the world,
are also part of this support team that keeps missionaries on the
“front lines.” God bless you!
