"They also serve..."
If
you came to Harrisburg to visit us, and you drove up the hill off
Lewisberry Road that leads to our office, you might catch Glenn
Barnhart on a tractor either mowing grass or plowing snow, depending
on the season. You might need to stay in one of the eight guest
rooms that are available on site managed by Eunice Priddy, or you
may spot Henry Lehman changing a light bulb or Dave Purrington building
a bookshelf. In the spring you’ll find Bob Hammaker at a desk helping
file missionary income tax forms, but most of the time you’d find
him outside working on the grounds. You might find an administrator
pushing a vacuum cleaner. All the staff does weekly chores to help
out. Dick Mitchell handles numerous maintenance requests on a daily
basis and coordinates the building and grounds staff. It’s no small
task.
The IS (Information Services) department has a capable staff of
technical experts who keep our computers efficiently functioning
day in and day out. "Technology
for Growth" describes the current needs in the informational
systems area. What the IS guys do is crucial to our daily existence
– both here and for our missionaries.
Phil and Barb Klumpp, along with Anna Ruth Hille, manage MK ministries.
One of the greatest challenges in missions is taking care of the
needs of missionary children. Josh Bennett (David and Vicki Bennett,
Brazil) recently wrote to the Klumpps, “I want to just take a minute
to express my thanks for the time and effort so many of you at the
ABWE home office are putting into being a blessing to us, the MKs.
…you have noticed our lives and are reaching out to touch us in
a positive way.”
One of those efforts is a new website just for ABWE MKs. We would
encourage all MKs to check out the new site.
This is a great way to connect with other MKs, encourage each other
and share stories from your fields!
