Support for Prefielders—Introducing Brad Winkler
New missionaries are joining the ABWE family at a record pace. After missionaries are appointed to a field, they must go through training, make contact with local churches, and raise financial support. Providing training, encouragement, and practical assistance that our missionaries expect and deserve requires the addition of a full-time director of Prefield Ministries. Pastor Winkler, appointed to this position, brings a wealth of experience and wisdom as a sending pastor who knows and understands the special needs of our prefielders.
Having been a board member of ABWE for many years, Brad knows the mission and ministry well. He grew up as a missionary kid in Mexico, then as a pastor’s kid in his teen years, and then entered into the pastorate and served for the next twenty-eight years in local church ministry. For the past seventeen years, he has pastored at Willo-Hill Baptist Church in Willoughby, Ohio, where God has allowed him to disciple and mentor fifteen church members and send them out as missionaries around the world.
Brad’s desire is to provide direction, support, and tools to both prefield families and their sending churches. He has a special concern for the spiritual welfare of prefielders who must balance work, family, church, and ministry demands. He and his wife, Robyn, have been married for twenty-five years and have four children. Together, they are thrilled to be a part of God’s plan of reaching the world with the gospel.
