Paying For Missions

Who pays for missions? The mission board? The local church? God’s people?
If you were to follow the paper trail, it starts with God. He is the one who owns everything and gives the ability to gain wealth. When God’s people give as faithful stewards, money is channeled through the local church to the mission agency for processing and then on to the missionary.
Ruth and her husband, David, had a long talk over coffee one day about missions and, more specifically, their giving to missions. While they had given on a regular basis through their church, they wanted to do something more significant in their retirement years. They found that a Gift Annuity with ABWE was an ideal way of advancing world missions during their lifetime and after they went to be with the Lord. While any gift of $1,000 or more would be acceptable, Ruth and David prayed about it and subsequently gave $50,000 in exchange for a Gift Annuity. At their ages of eighty-two and eighty, they received a charitable deduction of $22,264. They liked the fact that a portion of their $3,550 lifetime income was tax free. Because they didn’t need current income, they gave the Gift Annuity income towards the support of a missionary. This gave them an additional annual tax deduction. If they ever have a future need of additional income, they can instruct ABWE to pay the Gift Annuity income to them, guaranteed every year for both spouses’ lifetimes. Ruth and David are paying for missions during their lifetimes and providing for missions after their deaths.
Who pays for missions? As God supplies, it is His people who give. Maybe you should be thinking about a Gift Annuity for yourself and the opportunity to advance world missions during your lifetime and beyond. Please contact for additional information.
